DAVID R. CHANDLER, M.D.

David R. Chandler, M.D.

David R. Chandler is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon devoted to adult reconstructive surgery of bones and joints with a subspecialty interest and training in rehabilitation and surgery of disorders of the spine.

Dr. Chandler earned a bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering at Tulane University, where he graduated Suma Cum Laude and was the valedictorian of the school of engineering. He received his medical degree at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles and was admitted to Alpha Omega Alpha, the medical honor society.

His internship in surgery was completed at Los Angeles County-University of Southern California Medical Center, which at that time was the largest teaching hospital in the United States.

He completed residency training in orthopaedic surgery at the University of Southern California Affiliated Hospitals. He then went on to complete a fellowship in spinal rehabilitation and surgery at Rancho Los Amigos Medical Center, the Los Angeles County Hospital for chronic diseases and rehabilitation, in Downey, CA.

Dr. Chandler entered private practice at Good Samaritan Hospital in downtown Los Angeles. In addition, he served on the voluntary attending staff in the Department of Orthopaedics of the University of Southern California and the Spinal Cord Injury Service of Rancho Los Amigos Medical Center.

After eleven years of private practice on the west coast, he accepted a practice opportunity in Pensacola, FL. He and his family moved to the area in 1999. His practice has been primarily at Baptist Hospital in Pensacola and Gulf Breeze Hospital where he has been Chairman of the Orthopaedic Section, Head of the Department of Surgery and President of the Medical Staff.

He has done extensive research in bioengineering aspects of total joint replacements and emergency immobilization of cervical spine injuries.

He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the North American Spine Society, in which he sits on several committees, and serves on the board of the Florida Orthopaedic Society. He is also a member of the Southern Medical Assocation, the Florida Medical Assocation, and the Escambia County Medical Society.

Dr. Chnadler and his wife reside in Gulf Breeze and have been married for twenty seven years. They have two daughters, one hold an architecture degree and the other is completing her final two years in Florida State University Medical School, at the Pensacola Campus. In his leisure time he enjoys sailing and sports.

Dr. Chandler is pleased to be a member of the Andrews Institute and the Andrews Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Clinic. He and his staff are dedicated to providing the best in conservative and operative treatment of the spine and orthopaedic problems.
